The name of the resort is derived from the two isles living
above the sea in front of it (nusa means isle and dua means
two).This resort established by tourist area management under
the name of Bali Tourism Development Corporation, the better
known as BTDC Nusa Dua which was founded on 12 November 1973.
The BTDC has played its roles to develop the resort to more
than three decades. The company is owned by government of
the Republic Indonesia.
Formerly,
the Indonesian government had a dream to create a tourist
area on the island of Bali. The government asked the Sceto
(Societe Centrale Pour’l Equipeent Touristique Outre-Mer),
the French consultant preparing the master plan of the resort.
Under financial supported by World Bank, in charge of government
, the Pacific Consultant International (PCI) has done a great
effort in field study in developing the tourism area of Nusa
Dua which was completed in 1973. In the plan, the development
of high-class accommodations are concentrated in Nusa Dua
covering an area of 350 hectares.
The
isolated barren area is located on the outskirts of Bukit Peninsula,
belong to Badung Regency, above the
southern part of Bali, not far from the International Airport
Ngurah Rai, between Sanur and Kuta
tourist resorts. The Nusa Dua tourist resort has become an interesting
resort in the world and domestically the resort has been the proto
type for developing other tourist resort in the archipelago. The
Nusa Dua tourist resorts has 19 tourist facilities with five star
levels including: hotel, villa, golf, and resort accommodation.
